Krav Maga is a noncompetitive diversified self-defense system developed in Israel that involves boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-jitsu, wrestling and grappling techniques, as well as realistic fight training. Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-life situations and extremely efficient, brutal counter-attacks.  Hungarian-Israeli martial artist, Imi Lichtenfeld, developed Krav Maga from street-fighting skills he developed as a means of defending the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava in the mid-to-late 1930s. In the late 1940s, Lichtenfeld began to provide lessons on combat training (the system that became known as Krav Maga) to what was to become the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces). Presently, Krav Maga is used by the IDF, both regular and special forces, and several closely related variations have been developed and adopted by civilian, law enforcement, military applications and intelligence organizations. The philosophy of Krav Maga emphasizes threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers, and aggression.
